5 People Who Have Made A Jump To Politics

Politics can be a muddy world to wade into but plenty of people decide to jump in, despite not coming from a political background. Most politicians start off as lawyers or have a family history with politics. And then are the people on this list who decide that they will join the game in whatever way they can. Here are some of the people who have changed their career path and tried to get people interested in politics.

Chris Evans

Captain America himself has dipped his toe into the world of politics after he was left feeling clueless. The story goes, Evans was watching the news and had no idea what was being discussed. He realized that there were probably a lot of people who felt excluded from politics because they didn’t know where to start. After this, he and fellow actor Mack Kassen launched A Starting Point. There have been repeated calls for Evans to run as President but he has yet to make any formal plans outside of his website.

Jorge Hank Rhon

This businessman turned politician first in 2004 as he campaigned to be the Mayor Tijuana after spending several years building his business empire. From 1980 onwards, Jorge Hank Rhon built his company from the ground up, and has started from animal shops to casinos. He has named some of his 19 children after exotic animals.

Arnold Schwarzenegger

Originally from Austria, Arnold became a citizen. In 1986, he married Maria Shriver, niece of John F. Kennedy. However, it wasn’t until 2003 that he joined the world of politics as 38th Governor of California. Unfortunately for Arnold, because he is not a natural born citizen, he cannot run for President until there is a change of the law.

Clint Eastwood

Clint Eastwood might be one of the more surprising people on the list. The Dirty Harry actor was once a mayor. During his term from 1986 -1988, he was mayor of Carmel-By-The-Sea. During his time, he donated his $200 a month salary to the local youth group. Since then, he has made no attempt at returning to politics and instead has focused on his health and creating an award winning film career.

Ronald Reagan

One of the highest ranking positions of political offices in the world was once held by an actor called Ronald Reagan. He didn’t just decide to run for President one day, before he was the 40th President of the USA, he was the 33rd Governor of California. Reagan has been largely forgotten but his career as President is well remembered.

Jesse Ventura

If this name rings a bell, it’s probably because you know him better as Jesse “The Body” Ventura. This former wrestler, turned actor, turned politician, who was also in the Navy and was a bodyguard for the Rolling Stones, has had quite the career path. He hasn’t held a position since 2003 but he continues to be active in politics and has expressed an interest in running for President under the Green Party Banner.
