Welcome to the Trainscapes segment! Each week here on Geek Alabama, Trainscapes will feature train content including videos of trains and behind the scenes action of trains and locomotives. Some people have an interest in seeing trains, and we here at Geek Alabama aim to please the train lovers!
Join us for a two-day journey trackside through the historic Lower Shenandoah Valley, where the rails of yesterday and today come together in spectacular fashion. From the legendary junctions of Harpers Ferry and Brunswick to the busy area at Shenandoah Junction, we explore one of the most scenic and historically significant railroad regions in the eastern United States.
Along the former Baltimore and Ohio Railroad main line, now operated by CSX Transportation, we witness nonstop freight action with trains of all kinds, including plenty of coal trains, where the market is hot near the Port of Baltimore. We also catch action on Norfolk Southern Railway’s H-Line, where the former Norfolk & Western still sees daily freight traffic crossing paths with CSX at Shenandoah Junction.
