Telltale Signs You’re A True Gamer

Gaming is something that has taken our culture by storm. But while it is something that practically everyone under forty does from time to time, real gamers balk at the idea that everyone is a “gamer” now.

Have you ever wondered whether you’re a true gamer or just somebody dabbling their toes in the water? Here are some telltale signs that you are.

You Engage In Regular Fights Over Which Is The Best Gaming Platform

Gamers all have their pet platforms they use for most of their “work.” But only real players feel ideologically wedded to one over another.

For instance, a casual gamer never turns their nose up to playing on a console if their regular platform is the PC. A hardcore desktop gamer with a custom-built rig always does.

Real gamers get into fights about which is the best platform all the time. PCs, for instance, have the best graphics. But consoles are cheap, plug-and-play, and have thousands of users.

Your Wallpaper On Your Phone Relates To Gaming

If you’re a true gamer, it is hard to think of anything else. After a while, it starts to dominate your life and occupies all your thoughts.

Genuine gamers don’t use pictures of their partners or spouses as their phone or desktop wallpapers. Instead, they use images of their favorite characters from top titles. Mario, Pokemon – it can be anything.

You Spam Forums With Angry Complaints Aimed At Developers And Publishers

If you’ve spent any significant time in the gaming community, you’ll have noticed something: they’re not afraid to complain. The practice is so widespread that game developers now tread extremely lightly and have cut back on their “pay to win” business models that rely on micro-transactions.

If you’re one of these activists, consider yourself a real gamer. You want things to go back to the way they were in the 1980s and 1990s – a purer, more wholesome time when companies weren’t just money-grabbing.

You Reneged On Social Commitments To Play Games

When you’re playing a game, like Starburst slot, you don’t want to leave it and go out when your friends invite you out. Instead, you want to continue playing. It’s too much fun to ignore. Thus, you have to make a choice. Do you go out? Or do you stay in? All true gamers stay home.

You Immediately Recognize Gaming Music

As you go about your life, you encounter all sorts of sound environments. The vast majority have nothing to do with gaming at all. But on occasion, your ears prick up. Isn’t that the sound of Zelda, you say to yourself?

What’s more, when you hear gaming music in real life, it is totally unexpected. We live in this weird culture where everyone games, and yet nobody wants to publicly admit that it is an integral part of our lives. So encountering music from your favorite titles is rare. When it happens, though, it immediately puts you in a good mood and gives you a sense of nostalgia.
