Crowdsourcing Mornings: AOC Action Figure

This is Crowdsourcing Mornings! This post takes place every weekday morning and highlights one crowdsourcing project I liked from Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or other crowdsourcing websites.

Please read our crowdsourcing guidelines at:

We’re toymakers, not prophets, so take what we say with a grain of salt. But, we’ve got a pretty good track record of spotting real-life heroes in the making and from where we sit, AOC has the makings of a legend. So we’re doing what we do best and turning her into an action figure.

Our mission is to create fun, beautiful toys that depict real life role models in a relatable way. We’ve got nothing against super heroes or cartoon characters (really we don’t!) but we believe that whether you’re a child or an adult, we all need to connect to heroes who inspire us in a way that feels attainable.

If funded, AOC will be the latest addition to our line of Real Life Action Figures. This has been an ongoing collaboration between us (FCTRY) and Mike Leavitt, a Seattle-based artist and activist.

Like Mike’s fine art pieces, the figures are one part product and one part social commentary, exploring who we idolize in contemporary culture and how we do it.

It’s a commercial endeavor, but we really do believe in the ideals of heroes we portray. We try to align each action figure with a social mission that matches the values of its real-life counterpart. If this project gets funded, we plan to align AOC’s figure with the Sunrise Movement—a grassroots organization that works alongside the real AOC, championing the Green New Deal.

As of October 18th, this project has raised $40,000 of their $15,000 goal. This project has 28 days left to raise as much as it can. For a pledge of $20, you will get one action figure.  For a pledge of $40, you will get two action figures.  To learn more and to pledge money, go to:
