Thomas And Friends Are Not Immune From The Alt-Right Mess

A preschool show is now a target in the so called culture wars some on the alt-right want us in I guess.  You see, a new character is coming to the show.  She is a female engine that came from Kenya.  She is named Nia, and along with Rebecca, they are the two newest engines on the island of Sodor.  Mattel and the United Nations is working together to teach children the importance of taking part in the global efforts to end poverty, providing girls and boys with the same opportunities, and of course doing so while protecting our planet.  I would find that a very worthwhile goal!

Meanwhile, some on the alt-right find this I guess evil or something.  NRA TV recently aired a segment with Dana Loesch who said “Thomas the Tank is now bringing gender balance to the show by adding girl trains.  One of those trains, Nia, will be from Kenya to add ethnic diversity to the show. And — which that by the way, that’s where it gets really strange to me because I’ve looked at Thomas and Friends, at their pictures, and I see gray and blue. Am I to understand this entire time that Thomas and his trains were white? Because they all have gray faces. How do you bring ethnic diversity? I mean they had to paint, what I guess they thought was some sort of African pattern on the side of Nia’s engine? How do you bring ethnic diversity to a show that literally has no ethnicities because they’re trains.”

And it gets weirder from there.  NRA TV then shows this meme where characters from Thomas and Friends are wearing KKK hoods and riding on burning railroad tracks.  This would be horrible on Sodor!

Now, I am glad to see Thomas and Friends go in a new direction where the engines will actually leave Sodor and visit engines from other countries around the world.  Diversity is a wonderful thing, those NRA TV idiots need to keep quiet and take a chill pill!  Learn more about this by watching the video below!
