College football was crazy this Saturday! #2 Oregon, #3 Alabama, #4 Oklahoma, #6 Texas A&M, #17 Wisconsin, and #18 BYU all went down! War Eagle by the way! So to celebrate, I am featuring a new map from the New York Times, who took Facebook likes and complied a map of people’s favorite college teams. The map was created using estimates of team support based on each team’s share of Facebook “likes” in a ZIP code. An algorithm was applied to deal with statistical noise and fill in gaps where data was missing. In Alabama, sadly 80% of the state supports the Alabama Crimson Tide. Only the areas within 40 miles of Auburn support the Auburn Tigers.
Below, is the map of what college teams people support across the United States. If you want to view the New York Times article, and get more details on certain areas, click here!
