Every day, more than 160,000 vehicles squeeze across the Brent Spence Bridge spanning the Ohio River between Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky. It is one of the most important transportation links in America. But there’s one major problem: the bridge was never designed for this level of demand. Built in 1963, the Bridge helped transform the region into a major transportation hub and became a critical link between the Midwest and the Southeast. But decades of growth have pushed the crossing far beyond its intended limits, creating one of the nation’s worst freight bottlenecks. Now, after decades of planning and debate, a $4.4 Billion solution is finally taking shape.
