Welcome to the Crowdsourcing Mornings segment! Every weekday morning, Geek Alabama talks about and features one crowdsourcing project from crowdsourcing sites such as, Indiegogo, and others. The hope with Crowdsourcing Mornings is to feature and help a project be successful and reach its fundraising goal. Please enjoy today’s featured project!

I’m Louise Bichan, a musician and artist from Orkney, in Scotland, now living in Maine. I am working on a new record, and I’d love your help to get it over the finish line. This collection of tunes, murder ballads and tales from Scotland, came about in 2025 when I put together a Scottish Halloween show called All Hallows Eve. We had so much fun with it and decided to take the project into the recording studio and the result is a new album called Binnorie.
I spent quite some time on the Tobar An Dualchais/Kist o Riches online archive, and found so much inspiration from field recordings from the School of Scottish Studies. Some of those will feature on the record.
I recorded with my band Conor Hearn on guitar, Brendan Hearn on cello and Ethan Setiawan on mandolins, as well as some incredibly special musical guests, who I can’t wait to reveal. As a supporter of the project you will be the first to find out and hear this new music. The music is almost all recorded and heading into the mixing and mastering stage.
I’m also working away at the visual elements to the project, music videos and artwork to feature in an art book. With stories of sea serpents, trowies and jealous sibling rivalries, there are so many images in my head that I’m excited to get out on paper! I’ll be trying my hand at making a crankie for the first time and I’m working on a stop motion animation as well.
I will be making mini matchbox versions of the crankie, which will be available as rewards, as well as prints of elements of the crankie and album artwork. The art book will feature art from the crankie and stop-motion, as well as lyrics from the songs, the stories, photos from the session and more.

As of June 19th, this project has raised $7,700 of their $10,000 goal. This project has 4 days left to raise the $10,000 or it will not get funded. For a pledge of $15, you will get one album digital download. For a pledge of $25, you will get one CD.
