A strong tornado struck the community on Friday night causing severe storm damage in the area. The old Winterboro High School gymnasium was destroyed and a school bus was thrown onto the building. Numerous structures were damaged with some destroyed. A man lost his life as his mobile home was destroyed off of Bob White Road.
