Welcome to the Crowdsourcing Mornings segment!  Every weekday morning, Geek Alabama talks about and features one crowdsourcing project from crowdsourcing sites such as Kickstarter, Indiegogo, and others.  The hope with Crowdsourcing Mornings is to feature and help a project be successful and reach its fundraising goal.  Please enjoy today’s featured project!

Please read our crowdsourcing guidelines at:  https://geekalabama.com/media-kit-pr/geek-alabama-crowdsourcing-guidelines

This past weekend felt both like 10 years and 5 minutes. Filmmaking is a total act of collaboration where every single minute detail is at play and each little eyeball has its own secret power and perspective. We are amazed (though not surprised) by the team that our excellent Producer, Chloe Sabin, and our stellar Director of Photography, Alex Bock, put together. Danielle quickly came into her own as a calm and confident director, and I found ease and joy (oops, busted, this is Laura talking) in front of the camera in a way I was not sure I would after so much change. Zoë was, rather naturally, legendary.

We are so close:

We are 88% to our goal of raising $35,000. Freaking remarkable! Since Kickstarter requires that we reach our funding goal 100% to receive any of the funding, we must reach our Kickstarter goal of $7,000 by January 31st, or we don’t receive any funds at all. We are AIMING to hit $10,000!

What is Losing Lisa about?

After her husband’s passing, Lisa is in her late sixties and on her own (and unexpectedly… kinda rich!) for the first time since she can remember. She decides it’s time to live out her dream of moving to New York City to be close to her daughter Zara, a novelist, who could use a little help with her first child. Zara doesn’t exactly share this dream, but two years into life as a mom working on her second novel with sparse childcare… she needs help.

Zara begs Lisa to move in completely so she can try to break through her writer’s (life) block in peace, but Lisa is finally finding herself. She has the perfect apartment, has mastered her iPhone, is learning to paint, and she’s about to go on a date! Literally. He is picking her up in ten minutes. As they hash it out, Zara starts to see her mother in a whole new way, while Lisa decides that, though she’s only ever wanted to be Zara’s mom, it’s time for her to let go.

The role of Lisa will be played by Zoë Wanamaker (!!), and Zara will be played by Laura Lapidus.

As of January 30th, this project has raised $6,000 of their $7,000 goal. This project has 1 days left to raise the $7,000 or it will not be funded. For a pledge of $25, you will get a thank you credit.  For a pledge of $50, you will get a digital copy of the film.  To learn more and to pledge money, go to: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/losinglisa/losing-lisa-a-short-film?
