Throughout the last month after the catastrophic flooding, wind, and landslide impacts to the area from Hurricane Helene, search and rescue crews moved through the area, clearing victims. Power and water crews have been and will continue to work on restoring utilities. A group of miners from WV have brought in their own equipment and have successfully built a road connecting Bat Cave, NC to Chimney Rock. Access to the area is still highly restricted as crews continue to work.
