Up-close video of a huge dust devil in a field along WA Hwy 21 in central Adams County, Washington, on September 6th. The dust devil was extremely close (within 50-100 feet at times) and quite large. It likely had winds over 40 mph, and was powerful enough to suck in tumbleweeds and loft them into the air. Adams County, Washington, specifically fields around Ritzville, are a prime region for dust devils to form throughout the summer, due to dryland farming, hot temperatures, days with light winds, and a high lapse rate (rate that temperature falls with altitude).
