Shadow After the Soul is a story that highlights the effects mental health issues have on relationships. The story follows a man, Noah, struggling with depression and anxiety as he tries to navigate his relationship while failing to deal with his own mental health crisis. The story personifies these struggles as Acheron, an unseeable being that wants nothing more than to drag everyone down to their grave. His girlfriend, Taylor, tries to bring light into Noah’s life as best as she can.
Shadow After the Soul is a project that we have been trying to bring to life for about a year now. We believe that the elements of mental health that it focuses on are important and should be represented. Especially in a world where mental health affects so many.
The story was a personal project written by Keyon-Dre Swift the year he joined the Film Production Club. When he became Executive Coordinator, he decided he wanted to bring his story to life. This was one of the first projects the club worked on, though the lack of experience of the members caused the film to fall behind schedule. Now, club members are more experienced and ready to bring this tale to life once again!
Members of the club got together and filmed the test scene that can be seen in the video above to pitch to our advisors and the public! Although the test scene does not include the actors portraying the actual characters, nor will it be in the final film, it was a lot of fun to shoot!
The Jacksonville State University Film Production Club is an organization dedicated to teaching professionalism and developmental skills through the art of filmmaking. We aim to foster creativity to tell creative and impactful stories, such as the one for this short film.

As of April 12th, this project has raised $1,000 of their $7,500 goal. This project has 47 days left to raise the $7,500 or it will not be funded. For a pledge of $25, you will get your name in the credits. For a pledge of $35, you will get a signed script from the cast.
