Crowdsourcing Mornings: The Eagle Has Landed – Sci-Fi Documentary

Welcome to the Crowdsourcing Mornings segment!  Every weekday morning, Geek Alabama talks about and features one crowdsourcing project from crowdsourcing sites such as Kickstarter, Indiegogo, and others.  The hope with Crowdsourcing Mornings is to feature and help a project be successful and reach its fundraising goal.  Please enjoy today’s featured project!

The Eagle Has Landed explores a passionate and ongoing nostalgia for a future that never happened. This intriguing feature-length documentary follows Jeffrey Morris—a Minnesota-based filmmaker and lifelong science-fiction aficionado—as he examines the fascinating connections between art, science, culture, and the iconic Eagle spacecraft.

The propulsive and cinematic travelogue began production in the Spring of 2023 and is being filmed across three continents at motion-picture quality. The film features interviews with creatives, actors, scientists, and collectors who have been deeply impacted by the Eagle and have maintained its legacy for nearly five decades.

The goal is to complete filming by the end of 2023 and finish post-production six-months after the shoot is completed. We intend to make the movie available to Kickstarter backers during the Summer of 2024. After a limited festival and theatrical run, the intention is for the documentary to debut in streaming during the 50th anniversary of Space: 1999 in 2025.

As of September 15th, this project has raised $46,000 of their $500,000 goal. This project has 27 days left to raise the $500,000 or it will not be funded.
