Tarot can be a powerful tool, a fun way to pass the time, or a part of someone’s spiritual practice, but no matter how you use tarot it’s always a work of art. While the cards are meant to depict the entire realm of the human experience, many people have been left out of the imagery in traditional tarot decks, including fat, BIPOC, disabled, and LGBTQ+ folks. With Fat Folks Tarot, we’ve brought together a group of 77 diverse fat artists and created a unique deck for and by fat people. This deck includes all 78 of the Major and Minor Arcana and each card features gorgeous art of fat folks.
The Fat Folks Tarot Deck began as a small late-night idea between friends and blossomed into the expansive project we know today. Each artist takes the rich allegory and symbolism from the widely known Rider-Waite-Smith deck and puts their own spin on it, creating a truly unique work of art celebrating fat bodies. Whether you’re a professional reader, a newbie, or an art lover, we can’t wait for you to discover the beauty of Fat Folks Tarot for yourself.
This is the last time the Fat Folks Tarot Deck will be printed. We’re incredibly honored by how much love this deck has received, but it’s time for us to move on to other projects. That being said, we plan to go out with a bang, and the deck will be better than ever! Read on to find out more.
Our deck features all 78 Major and Minor Arcana cards in full glorious color. They will be printed on heavyweight paper designed for durability and shuffling and will come nestled in a freshly designed full box. (That’s right folks – no tuckbox this time!)
This is a second, upgraded version of our deck, so some pieces are still in the design process (such as our new box) and will be revealed later. Keep an eye out for the artwork from our brand new Sun card!
As of January 4th, this project has raised $25,000 of their $20,000 goal. This project has 28 days left to raise as much as it can. For a pledge of $13, you will get PDF artwork.
