Boeing Transonic Truss-Braced Wing

One of the five futuristic plane designs that will improve air travel is the Boeing Transonic Truss-Braced Wing. While this airplane doesn’t look too different from the planes you see today, it features truss-braced wings, which allow the plane to fly faster and more efficiently. Composite material or aluminum, one of the most common metals used in the aviation industry, make up these truss-braced wings.


Her0 Zero Emissions Plane

One plane that looks like it’s from the future is the Her0 Zero Emissions plane. This electric plane won’t produce any emissions. With its three rear propellers and long smooth body, this plane should easily travel through the air.


EADS VoltAir Plane

The EADS VoltAir plane looks like something you would find in a Star Trek film. Like the Her0 plane, the EADS VoltAir airplane is also completely electric. However, this lightweight aircraft is small, so it can only carry around 50 to 70 passengers at a time.


KLM Flying-V Plane

Partnering with the Dutch airline KLM, researchers at the Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands designed the Flying-V plane. As the name suggests, this plane forms a giant V-shape with the cockpit connecting two separate bodies. The researchers hope that this unique design will cut fuel costs significantly, thus making the plane more efficient.


Airbus Maverick

At the Singapore Airshow in 2020, Airbus revealed the Model Aircraft for Validation and Experimentation of Robust Innovative Controls. Since this name is quite a mouthful, people call it the “Maverick.” The first thing you’ll notice about this plane is it doesn’t have a body, and it’s essentially one giant wing. Airbus claims that this shape will reduce fuel consumption and allow smoother airflow over the plane.
