Crowdsourcing Mornings: Spinwheel

This is Crowdsourcing Mornings! This post takes place every weekday morning and highlights one crowdsourcing project I liked from Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or other crowdsourcing websites.

Please read our crowdsourcing guidelines at: https://geekalabama.com/media-kit-pr/geek-alabama-crowdsourcing-guidelines

Spinwheel™ was developed and perfected for you by a team of dedicated, honest and hardworking men / woman. *Our goal: To offer you the BEST, COOLEST and most UNIQUE fidget toy of all-time.  Other fidget spinners work on the principle of centrifugal force with a fixed-central axis. Spinwheel™ is a bit different. Instead, it has a cutout track (within the larger outer disc). Within this track is a captured “sliding pin”. In combination, this allows for rotational and linear movement… something never seen before in a fidget spinner. To top-it-off, a “trivial game component” was also added for extra flare and excitement (dice and yes/no answers).

It took months of testing the initial idea for the best overall shapes and proportions… by printing 3d plastic samples on our PRUSA. From there, we prototyped on CNC Mills and changed to solid aerospace anodized aluminum to study weight.  Testing was done for six months on various material thickness to evaluate “functional performance”, relating to all aspects of the design. This decision allowed us to understand the effects of mass — correlating to the direct performance of spin (in both the horizontal and vertical orientations).

In short, we found the perfect combination in a nice little package… to give you hours of insightful and mindless enjoyment!

As of February 5th, this project has raised $250 of their $1,000 goal. This project has 15 days left to raise the $1,000 or it will not be funded. For a pledge of $10, you will get one Spinwheel.  For a pledge of $20, you will get two Spinwheels.  To learn more and to pledge money, go to: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1078864724/spinwheeltm?
