Saturday was the annual Noble Street Festival and Sunny King Criterium in downtown Anniston.  Yes, it was a very cold day with a cold wind, but many people still came out!  So let’s get things started with a wedding proposal!  In between the women’s and men’s pro races, Fredd Matute proposed to his girlfriend Holly Horner.  And she said yes!  Here is video of this sweet moment!

And now onto the big races.  In the women’s pro race, 54 women battled to see who won.  Team United Healthcare had a very good showing with Hannah Barnes winning the crown with teammate Coryn Rivera finishing second.  Erica Allar from Colavita/Bianchi finished third.  The Finish times were just over one hour with the winning time at 1:00:04.

During the men’s pro race, around 125 cyclists raced under the cold Anniston skies.  It was so cold there were heaters for the spectators at the start/finish line.  Early on, seven riders broke away from the main pack, and at around the halfway point, the seven man group lapped the entire field.  After everything was over, Tyler Magner from Hincapie Racing pulled off an upset and ended the dominance from United Healthcare.  The amazing thing is Tyler lives in Georgia and has family from here in Calhoun County.  So it was a great local win!

Coming into second was Luke Keough and third was Hilton Clarke both from United Healthcare.  The winning time was 1:31:18.  So, enjoy a video and pictures from the Noble Street Festival and Sunny King Criterium below!  Learn more about the National Criterium Calendar at: https://www.usacycling.org/ncc
