Finally! We see something to the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie coming out this Summer. Sure, the video was only 1:30 long, and it was purely a teaser. But I am glad to finally see something, especially seeing the looks of the turtles. Here is the trailer for your enjoyment.
First thought, this is a Transformers movie, but instead of robots, it’s turtles. Michael Bay basically built this movie off of stock footage from Transformers. You see plenty of explosions and destruction in the short video above. But this movie should be different than the Transformers movies, and it involves character development. I hope we will see some character development in this movie. I would like to see the four teenage turtles talk and show different traits about their own characters. Now for the interesting part, Shredder and April O’Neil’s dad are responsible for the creation of the turtles? Well, it’s not the worst thing in the world, and I hope this will work.
Two, let’s talk about the look of the turtles, and these turtles are huge! When you look back at other versions of this classic franchise, you notice that the turtles are tall but thin. The only thing making them different from an average human being is the green skin and the giant shell on their backs. From the great Jim Henson puppet days to the days of CGI. I thought the turtles looks were kind of interesting. You see more details in the turtles from the skin and equipment they use, but I thought the faces were kind of ugly, I guess it will have to grow on me. The turtles in this version are more human with eyes, noses, and lips. Is this a good or bad thing?
And before I dive into my third thought, here is the official synopsis of the film.
The city needs heroes. Darkness has settled over New York City as Shredder and his evil Foot Clan have an iron grip on everything from the police to the politicians. The future is grim until four unlikely outcast brothers rise from the sewers and discover their destiny as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The Turtles must work with fearless reporter April and her wise-cracking cameraman Vern Fenwick to save the city and unravel Shredder’s diabolical plan.
My third thought, I am seeing plenty of comments online saying this was not a good video or they hope this film bombs. Some people are not too excited to see this film. And if you want this film to make a lot of money in the box office, Paramount and Nickelodeon needs to build some excitement into this movie! I hope we will see the official trailer soon. And I hope to see people’s concerns about this film soon quiet down. So, will this movie be successful or bomb this Summer? I guess we will find out when the movie is released on August 8th. Enjoy some talk about this movie from the Screen Junkies!
