Music Thursdays: Birmingham Mountain Radio Now on 107.3 FM

Geek Alabama Music Thursdays

Alternative music has had a rough history in Birmingham.  Live 100.5 was the last FM station to play adult album alternative in 2010.  When that station moved to a news-talk format, Geno Pearson, Jeff Clanton and Jeremy Harper started Birmingham Mountain Radio.  The internet only radio station launched on December 13, 2010 and quickly became a favorite station in the Birmingham Metro.  The station was voted the city’s best radio station two years running in a Birmingham News contest despite not actually being on the air.

One of the first programs was Scott Register’s long-running program Reg’s Coffee House.  Other programs have since started on the station like The Morning Blend, Oh! Brother Radio, Sweet Science, The Audiovore, The Lost Child, We Have Signal, Southbound, The Show With No Name, and other great shows!  Birmingham Mountain Radio has grown to be a top radio station in the Birmingham Metro that is actually not on the radio airwaves, until now!

This week, Summit Media announced a partnership with Birmingham Mountain Radio and now the station is being played on 107.3 FM.  Birimingham Mountain Radio will still control the content it airs.  Summit Media is only providing the 107.3 FM frquency.  BMR also airs on high definition at WZNN HD-2.  Congrats to Birmingham Mountain Radio for landing on the FM dial.  It is well deserved!  Here’s the coverage area for 107.3 FM.
