Some Cool Twitter Changes

Today Twitter’s CEO Dick Costolo announced on the Today Show some changes to Twitter.  And I have to say these changes are very cool!  Twitter announced that there are over 140 million users, with 340 million tweets per day currently.  And Twitter has around 900 employees and $8B valuation.  So it’s safe to say that Twitter is doing very well right now.

Here is what Twitter had to say about the web changes on its blog today.

Starting today you can make your presence on Twitter more meaningful with new Twitter profiles. Upload an all-new header photo on mobile apps for iPad, iPhone and Android or twitter.com, and the same image will appear whenever anyone views your profile on the web or these apps. You can upload your header photo, which appears above your Tweets, to express yourself instantly, anywhere.

That is exactly what I did today.  I run three Twitter pages; @nvyoung, @PigskinRoundup, and @GeekAlabama.  And today I added a new header image to all three Twitter pages.

@nvyoung (Nathan Young’s Twitter page)

@PigskinRoundup (TV 24 Pigskin Roundup’s Twitter)

@GeekAlabama (Geek Alabama’s Twitter; I also changed the background as well)

You can tell Twitter made this change to compete with Facebook who allows all users to add a header image.  They also released updates to the iPad, iOS and Android as well.  If you have a Twitter account and you want to add a header image it is very easy to do.  Go to settings, click on design, scroll down and click on change header and add a photo and click save.  That’s all you have to do!
