Even though there is a chance of wintry weather this weekend in NE Alabama, you still need to come out and eat those pancakes! This Saturday in Gadsden, the Convention Hall will be transformed into a massive fundraiser for the Gadsden Kiwanis. This Saturday, from 6 am to 2 pm, at Gadsden Convention Hall, anyone can have a great pancake breakfast with flapjacks and sausage, and a drink! The Kiwanis is expecting over 6,000 people to attend this year, so it’s best to get there early to avoid the long lines! To get you pumped up, enjoy this classic Gadsden Kiwanis pancake ad!
Tickets are $5 at the door. And the meal will include three pancakes, two pieces of sausage, and either coffee, orange juice, or a Buffalo Rock Pepsi drink. Regular and sugar-free syrup will be available. And of course, butter will be available for the pancakes. For the ones who can’t eat at the Convention Hall, you can take out your breakfast for an additional $1 per plate. Last year, the pancake breakfast raised over $55,000, and the Kiwanis are hoping to raise around $50,000-$60,000 this year. Over 15,000 pancakes and 2,000 pounds of Dean’s sausage will be cooked on this pancake day!
Members recommend you arrive before 8 am if you want to beat the crowds. The worst time for the crowds will be between 8-10 am. There will be around 125 people from various Kiwanis clubs including the Kiwanis Club, Key Club, Builders Club, Circle K, and Aktion Club, helping out with the tasks including making the pancake batter, serving the food, cleaning the tables, cooking the pancakes and sausage, and more! In the kitchen which is in the back, every oven will be used to cook sausage and there will be many grills going to cook pancakes. During the breakfast rush, you might have to wait for a few minutes for the crew to catch up, but you will get fresh and hot off the grill pancakes. While the adults are cooking the pancakes and sausage, the kids will be cleaning the tables, serving the food, making the batter, and more, this is a true team effort!
Volunteers from the various Kiwanis Clubs will begin cooking sausage and making pancakes as early as 3:30 am Saturday morning. They would like to see the entire community come out and have a good time. The 2014 Gadsden Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast takes place on Saturday February 21st from 6 am to 2 pm at Gadsden Convention Hall. To learn more, go to: http://www.gadsdenkiwanis.org/
