Welcome to the Trainscapes segment! Each week here on Geek Alabama, Trainscapes will feature train content including videos of trains and behind the scenes action of trains and locomotives. Some people have an interest in seeing trains, and we here at Geek Alabama aim to please the train lovers!

Well, it happened, the Santa Fe 2926 finally took to the rails north of Interstate 40 for the first time since her fires were dropped at the end of the steam era. In the deepest depths of the night on the 27th of September 2026, the burly northern took to the rails and headed to Bernalillo New Mexico on a test run. After being locked away in Albuquerque’s Coronado Park, she was saved by the volunteers of New Mexico Heritage Rail and over the last quarter of a century has been worked on at a location on the Sawmill Spur off of The Atchison Topeka and Santa Fe’s and later Burlington Northern Santa Fe’s (BNSF) Glorieta Subdivision… Today’s ABQ subdivision of the New Mexico Rail Runner Express.
