Welcome back to Rigsby, Wisconsin.
It’s the early 2000s, and a group of outcast teens wrestle with their shifting identities and potential futures in a picturesque—but slightly backwards—Northwoods town.
Trapped in a small town environment prone to nihilism, Jeordie, Anna, and Beth cope any way they know how—regardless of the unpredictable, and sometimes self-destructive, results.
Rigsby WI: Flux is the third chapter of Ignatz and Eisner Award-nominated webcomic written and drawn by S.E. Case. And this time around, it’s all about Jeordie.
Jeordie’s not having a great year.
It’s not school; his grades are alright. Honor roll, even. He’s got good friends, a cute girlfriend. Parties to go to, warm days at the lake, even a car. All the parts and pieces that make for the perfect teenage experience are there.
But it’s just not clicking.
Let’s be real, it can be tough being the only Black kid for miles. The microaggressions are everywhere, even if you’re not gonna learn that word exists for another 15 years.
And while nobody’s high school relationships are easy? Sometimes, he’s not even sure his girlfriend actually likes him.
He’s not sure anybody does.
Deciding who you’re supposed to be and where you belong is easier with some backup. And while Beth is always ready to listen, and his parents are hovering at a respectful distance, Jeordie’s got more than his share of the typical teenage bullshit to navigate. And it’s getting tougher to stay on course.
