A Children’s Picture Book about how the Twin Cities kitty, Isabella, responds to Operation Metro Surge.
We are raising funds to print 1,000 copies of Isabella, Cat in the City and the True Heroes of the Twin Cities and Beyond.
Both Heather and Sheila wanted to create a book for children to reassure them that even though bad things happen in this world, there is a community around them watching out for their well being. The story centers around our main character, the brave and curious cat, Isabella. In considering ideas, inspiration hit Heather one day; as she backed out of her driveway, she noticed her own protest sign in her yard that featured the “rebel loon” and the idea of Isabella befriending and learning from a loon dawned on her.
The book deals with the heavy topic of Operation Metro Surge in a somewhat indirect manner so that families can choose how much they wish to discuss with their children around current events. The story also takes Isabella on a tour of several Twin Cities destinations as she searches for the loon.
In the end, the loon explains to Isabella that the true heroes are the people of Minnesota, and there will be back matter explaining some of those details and honoring the fact that the Kennedy Center Profile in Courage award of 2026 went to the people of Minnesota for their collective response to Operation Metro Surge. Back matter will also include a gratitude list of some of the many, many people who made tremendous efforts to protect Minnesota residents.
Backing this project will help get out the story of this piece of history in the making.

As of June 1st, this project has raised $5,400 of their $6,500 goal. This project has 1 days left to raise the $6,500 or it will not be funded. For a pledge of $10, you will get three stickers.
