Welcome to the Crowdsourcing Mornings segment!  Every weekday morning, Geek Alabama talks about and features one crowdsourcing project from crowdsourcing sites such as, Indiegogo, and others.  The hope with Crowdsourcing Mornings is to feature and help a project be successful and reach its fundraising goal.  Please enjoy today’s featured project!

Please read our crowdsourcing guidelines at:  https://geekalabama.com/media-kit-pr/geek-alabama-crowdsourcing-guidelines

Learning to read should feel like MAGIC.

We’ve convinced ourselves that a mountain of floppy paperback readers is the new normal. But it wasn’t always that way.

For hundreds of years, children learned to read from a primer.

A collection of stories, starting simple and increasing in difficulty.

A concise format: picture, sight words, story.

What if we could take that same, clean aesthetic and classic format and give it a modern refresh?

Updated language… gorgeous watercolor illustrations made by real human hands…

Enter the Pocket Primer.

The Pocket Primer is for the Homeschool Mom about to teach her child to read.

Maybe you’re starting homeschool with your oldest and this is the first time you’ll be teaching a child to read. You’re thinking, “This is so cute! But, how do I actually know what to do with this? Do we just…read it? Should I be doing something specific as we read? And how often should I be reading it with my child? When I look at previews of Teacher’s Guides online they just make my eyes glaze over. Will you tell me, in plain English, how to use this?” (Yes!)

As of April 22nd, this project has raised $19,000 of their $5,400 goal. This project has 4 days left to raise as much as it can. For a pledge of $29, you will get one hardcover copy.  For a pledge of $39, you will get one audiobook.  To learn more and to pledge money, go to: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/pocketprimer/the-pocket-primer?
