Art and storytelling have been intensely intertwined since their inception. From the earliest known tales carried through time via paintings on cave walls all the way to modern illustrated editions bringing even the most complex stories to life, art and the written word are often two halves of the same coin.
So why not bring them together (and teach a little something about both while we’re at it)?
LABYRINTH is a collection of fantasy and science fiction stories broadly themed around fantastical creatures we all know and love. Dragons. Direwolves. Eldritch beasts. That jellyfish spreading aurora through the sky? All of them. There are lots of other kinds of stories too, all intertwined with custom art commissioned to make this project beautiful—and including detailed breakdowns of the artistic process so you can go behind the curtain of how incredible art like this is made.
Volume Zero of LABYRINTH will be our opening attempt to create a recurring collection featuring authors and artists of various sizes and backgrounds, with future volumes hopefully containing slots for submitted works! As with all Kickstarter campaigns, however, we need your help to make this print run a reality. Our goal of $10,000 covers the manufacturing and fulfillment costs of this project, as well as additional cool art and tidbits you wouldn’t usually find in your average book!
