Welcome to Learning the Curve, an art book that chronicles my journey of growth as an artist and my deep appreciation for the beauty of the feminine form. This is more than just a collection of drawings—it’s a visual narrative of progress, a celebration of diversity, and a lesson in understanding the unique curves that define women of all shapes and sizes.
Through this project, I invite you to step into my classroom as both student and observer. With each page, you’ll witness my progression—from the earliest sketches to my most refined pieces. You’ll see how I’ve studied the interplay of light and shadow, the elegance of a line, and the individuality found in every curve. This is a book about learning, experimenting, and discovering, and I want to share that journey with you.
Each piece in this collection is inspired by real women—skinny, voluptuous, plus-sized—each uniquely beautiful. Drawing from reference photos, I’ve worked to capture their authenticity, celebrating the richness of diversity through every stroke. These aren’t idealized or generic figures; they are representations of real people whose shapes and stories have informed my art.
Learning the Curve unfolds like a lesson plan. Early pages show my tentative first attempts, where every curve was a challenge. As the pages turn, you’ll see how I improved, learned, and refined my style to create a visual language all my own.
