Molly O’Mahony is my name and I’m Kickstarting a new album!
Four years ago, I found myself back in my home place of Ballydehob, West Cork. Covid lockdowns had begun and I was under the same roof as my siblings for the first time in years. We began playing together and sharing videos online.
Bolstered by the support these recordings received, I decided to work towards making my first solo album, having played with the band Mongoose for a decade. My siblings helped me workshop musical ideas and slowly the songs took shape. At the end of 2020, we recorded Remember To Be Brave, the song that would become my first solo single, in a friend’s loft in West Cork.
Two years on, I’m rearing to make the next one. And I’ve got big plans! But boy is it expensive, especially at this moment in time.
Below you’ll see the projected costs for releasing the album independently, broken down into the costs I am aiming to cover with this Kickstarter, followed by the additional costs of bringing the project to completion.
With this Kickstarter campaign, I am looking to cover the cost of the recording week in January. This includes studio hire, musician fees, and engineering & production fees, as well as my Kickstarter fees.
As of December 30th, this project has raised $17,600 of their $18,007 goal. This project has 6 days left to raise as much as it can. For a pledge of $13, you will get one digital album.
