My journey with MYFIsavvy began with a simple observation, one that tugged at my heartstrings and ignited a passion within me to make a difference. As a continuous improvement engineer, I found myself in the unique position of advising and mentoring interns and new engineers entering into the workforce through an early career program. It was here, in the midst of their excitement and anticipation for their budding careers, that I witnessed something troubling.
Many of these young individuals, fresh-faced and eager to embark on their professional journeys, were grappling with the complexities of managing their newfound incomes. They were burdened by the weight of accrued student loan debt, uncertain about budgeting strategies, and clueless when it came to navigating financial benefits like 401k contributions and educational perks. Their struggles resonated deeply with me, evoking memories of my own journey and the gaps in financial education that I had experienced.
And so, I began to question. What if we could intervene earlier? What if we could equip children with the essential financial knowledge they needed before external influences began to shape their perspectives? What if we could empower them with the tools to navigate the complexities of money management with confidence and competence? It was this realization that gave birth to the vision for MYFIsavvy—a platform dedicated to providing financial literacy education not just to adults in the workforce, but to children and young adults as well.
And at the heart of this vision lies “Money Will Grow On Trees: Nurturing Your Financial Future,” a book designed to introduce financial literacy concepts to children in a way that is engaging, relatable, and fun. Through captivating storytelling and interactive activities, the book aims to instill foundational financial knowledge in young minds before external influences have the chance to shape their perspectives.
