Welcome to the Crowdsourcing Mornings segment!  Every weekday morning, Geek Alabama talks about and features one crowdsourcing project from crowdsourcing sites such as Kickstarter, Indiegogo, and others.  The hope with Crowdsourcing Mornings is to feature and help a project be successful and reach its fundraising goal.  Please enjoy today’s featured project!

It’s has been a good few years since we launced our very first Kickstarter campaign to fund our very first book, The History of Ocean Software. That book launched Fusion Retro Books Ltd and to date has been our best seller. Since then we have also produced books in the same style about US Gold and The Oliver Twins.

The years have since passed with Newsfield publications such as CRASH and ZZAP! 64 taking the focus.

Over the last few years we have become very close to Andrew Braybrook and Steve Turner and have been told many stories of their adventures with Graftgold. It therefore seemed fitting to produce a book on this historical important company, and this is what we have started to do.

The history section of the book has already been completed by Graeme Mason, after conducting interviews with Andrew and Steve and many follow-up questions. The history will cover the first fifty or so pages of the book. Graeme has also inteviewed many of those who worked at Graftgold for the memoir section and we hope to have as many of these as we can in the 2nd half of the book – we already have 10 completed and formatted. The middle section will look at all the games Graftgold produced and worked on – each hopefully with some fun facts from Andrew and Steve on their production. Andrew also wants to write a feature on Uridium spin-offs and we hope to include this in the book as well.

Steven Day is formatting the book, which is planned to be a hardback, the same size as the Ocean book (25x19cm), and 215+ pages long.

As of March 19th, this project has raised $38,000 of their $19,090 goal. This project has 3 days left to raise as much as it can. For a pledge of $13, you will get one PDF book.  For a pledge of $32, you will get one hardback book.  To learn more and to pledge money, go to: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/zzap642021annual/the-story-of-graftgold?
