Mighty Mila: Dream Job is finally ready for release, and we couldn’t be more excited! It’s been almost 2 years since launching our award-winning, bestselling children’s book Mighty Mila, and we’re excited to say that Mila is back and even more imaginative and unstoppable than ever in the second book in the Mighty Mila series!
Creating the first two books in the Mighty Mila series has been a true passion project and labor of love. This series was initially inspired by my spunky, determined daughter, Mila, who is deaf and uses cochlear implants, and now with the very recent identification of permanent hearing loss in our youngest, Sofia, I’m even more motivated and determined to get these books into the hands of as many families, schools, and libraries as possible.
In Mighty Mila: Dream Job, it’s career day at school and Mila is on a mission to figure out what she wants to be when she grows up. Readers of all ages will love joining Mila as she explores so many different interests throughout the story and will giggle as they watch her imagination run wild dreaming of all the amazing things she can be when she grows up.
Despite any challenges she may face, one thing Mila knows for sure is that nothing is going to stop her from achieving her dreams.
This is a book that encourages all children to chase their dreams, embrace their differences and believe that not only can they be ANYTHING they dream of, but that they can be EVERYTHING they dream of as well. Why be limited to just one thing when there are so many wonderful options!
So, what makes this book unique? So many things! Just to name a few:
- A main character who is deaf and uses cochlear implants, where her hearing ability isn’t the focus of the story. This book strives to normalize deafness and show all children (regardless of hearing ability) that deafness, or any other difference/disability, doesn’t define or limit you…but instead helps make you the wonderfully unique person you are.
- A unique response to the age-old question “What do you want to be when you grow up?” … and one that takes unnecessary pressure off of children by showing them that it’s okay to want to be many different things, or it’s okay to just not know at all!
- Bright, whimsical illustrations by Nadja Sarell containing so many fun hidden details that kids and parents will enjoy exploring.
- Supplemental materials at the back of the book that are both fun and educational. Listen & Look (similar to “I-spy”) activities, retelling and sequencing, comprehension and expansion, and more! Children will have so much fun, they won’t even know that they’re working on their vocabulary and listening skills!
- And if that’s not enough, there is a cool purple cat (and who doesn’t love purple cats?!)
As of October 5th, this project has raised $17,200 of their $14,000 goal. This project has 13 days left to raise as much as it can. For a pledge of $10, you will get one eBook.
