Welcome to the Crowdsourcing Mornings segment! Every weekday morning, Geek Alabama talks about and features one crowdsourcing project from crowdsourcing sites such as Kickstarter, Indiegogo, and others. The hope with Crowdsourcing Mornings is to feature and help a project be successful and reach its fundraising goal. Please enjoy today’s featured project!

My name is Aaron. I’m an actor and filmmaker based in Seattle. I’m taking a big step in my career by bringing this comedic self-produced film to life: Gay Jesus.
Gay Jesus is a series of comedic shorts recreating three iconic moments from Jesus’ life, but if Jesus was gay. Specifically The Last Supper, The Birth, and The Crucifixion.
I came up with the concept as a filmmaker intern at creative studio All Is Well. Although I chose another idea, I continued working on Gay Jesus and finally decided to make it myself. I’ll be working with actors and designers in the Seattle area, such as Xhavier Jacobsen (@xhayjay) who did the awesome Gay Jesus art.
In addition to being a hilarious idea, Gay Jesus is timely. There is a lot of unfounded fear and legislation being pursued against trans and queer people. My queerness has brought me nothing but love, joy, and so much laughter. So I celebrate my identity through my art.

As of May 11th, this project has raised $9,100 of their $7,500 goal. This project has 1 day left to raise as much as it can. For a pledge of $10, you will get a digital thank you. For a pledge of $25, you will get a digital download of the film. To learn more and to pledge money, go to: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/theaaronjin/the-gay-jesus-series?
