Good News Fridays: Just Like Mom’s Homemade Barbeque Sauce Is A Special Taste Of Alabama

Welcome to the Good News Fridays segment! Each week here on Geek Alabama, Good News Fridays will feature something good, wholesome, positive, and overall something great. After a long and stressful week, we all need something good to read or watch on Fridays! Enjoy a heartwarming post below!

We are in peak barbecue season in Alabama heading into Fourth of July weekend (though, if we’re honest, barbecue “season” really lasts all year in these parts).

One way to keep your Alabama ‘cue on point is to use a local sauce, and one newcomer to the scene belongs next to your grill or smoker.

Just Like Mom’s Homemade Barbeque Sauce was created by April Jones in Hueytown using her grandmother Lorene Davidson’s recipe. After some tweaking, the sauce grew so popular with family and friends over more than 20 years that Jones decided to start bottling it in 2020.

It’s that magic blend of sweet, tangy and spicy that you want in a good red sauce. Co-owner Emanuel Jones says it works well on ribs, chicken and even steaks and can also be used in marinades.

Just Like Mom’s can be found in 52 locations throughout the state or can be ordered directly online. The brand is so popular they are looking to expand.

“We are just excited and enjoying the ride,” April Jones said. “We would love to be in all 50 states.”
