Immersed in the archives of their late friend, counterculture icon Tuli Kupferberg, a gang of beatniks, rockers and hipsters devise a plan to wrangle Tuli a posthumous talk show appearance, setting forth on a mission to cast his impersonator.

From documentary to mockumentary, Tuli! Tuli! Tuli! unfolds the history of American dissent through the eyes of this remarkable visionary artist and performer, breathing life into his incredible archival gems, transforming them from piles of paper into an action-packed masterpiece of contemporary relevance.

Tuli! Tuli! Tuli! 1001 ways to be joyfully revolted is a feature-length documentary film that aims to revive and rekindle Kupferberg’s poetic vision. Using archival images from Tuli’s private and public spheres as well as newly shot footage featuring an exciting group of his fans and friends, Tuli’s daughter, Samara Kupferberg, leads us on a journey to discover and disseminate her father’s message.

From long ago memories to the present moment, from hidden inner dimensions to shocking public persona, from rare lost footage to mainstream media, from wholesome childhood cuteness to in your face radicalism, the film utilizes a wide array of sources to carry us on an adventure of joyfulness and revolt, between the sensitive artistic visionary and the Establishment.

This is the story of one of counterculture’s most cherished figures, who has been an inspiration for over five decades and counting.
