Sunday Discussion: Why Are There No Seat Belts On School Buses

It’s happened in Alabama and in every state in America, a wreck where kids on a school bus get hurt.  Without seat belts on school buses, kids can fly across the bus when an accident occurs.  And you might find it troubling that school bus manufacturers along with politicians are working together to prevent installing seat belts on school buses, but that is beginning to change.

The Canadian program The Fifth Estate from the CBC did a report about why seat belts are not in many school buses across Canada and the United States.  They discovered a flawed Transport Canada report in their investigation that argued against seat belts — a policy which studies show has led to injuries and deaths that could have been prevented. Bob McKeown investigates in the video below.
