A Tent That Opens the Door to Adventure – and Action.
What would you do with a magical tent with the power to take you anywhere in the world?
For Anthony, that question becomes very real when he discovers a mysterious gift left behind by his late grandpa: a magical tent and a special mission. Along with the nickname “Kid Kamper,” Anthony inherits a legacy of adventure and responsibility…and a world that needs his help.
This is the heart of Kid Kamper: Into the Forest, a young middle grade adventure filled with magic, discovery, action, and fun.
When Anthony sets up his tent in the backyard, yet again, he thinks it’s just another ordinary campout. But Anthony’s first solo trip? Not a backyard adventure after all – but deep in the heart of the Amazon rainforest – once he’s transported through the back of his tent. But he’s not there just to explore! The forest is in trouble – trees are being cut down, rivers are polluted, and the creatures who call it home are in danger.
Joined by a colorful cast of animal friends, Anthony embarks on a thrilling, eco-powered journey to protect and save the rainforest. With teamwork, courage, and a little bit of magic, he learns that even one kid can make a huge difference.
Why This Book & Why Now?
Kid Kamper has universal appeal with timeless themes of adventure, friendship, bravery, and protecting the planet. It’s a story that speaks to every child’s inner explorer – and empowers them to become real-life heroes.
If you love the Magic Tree House series or My Father’s Dragon (who you’ll see makes an appearance in my campaign video above – for all you keen eyed folks out there), you’ll feel right at home here. But Kid Kamper adds an eco-twist – taking readers not only on a journey that’s magical and filled with heart, but one also filled with purpose.
Kid Kamper was written especially for readers in that “in-between” space – not quite ready for full middle grade novels, but eager for a challenge beyond those early chapter books. That’s what makes Kid Kamper a perfect young middle grade read. It’s a story that helps kids feel confident, engaged, and excited about reading – especially those who might be reluctant to pick up a book.
But more than that, it’s a story with hope. In a world where kids are often overwhelmed by climate anxiety and environmental doomscrolling, Kid Kamper offers something different: possibility. Through Anthony’s journey, readers learn how small, everyday actions can lead to real change.
This isn’t just a book. It’s a movement to spark hope over fear, action over helplessness, and to help kids see themselves as heroes for the Earth. By backing this campaign, you’re not just helping publish a book, you’re helping plant seeds of courage, compassion, and action in young readers everywhere!
