Roots of Yggdrasil is a narrative roguelike strategy city-building game set after Ragnarok, the end of the world in Norse mythology. It tells the story of a group of survivors who’ve been spared from the destruction and who must make their way to Yggdrasil in order to bring balance back to the Realms.

The game will feature the traditional ManaVoid pillars of design: strong storytelling, high  production value and a mix of genres unlike you’ve ever seen before! We’re modernizing the traditional city-builder with new mechanics and systems, as well as integrating a great storyline and high replay value with the game’s roguelike elements!

Ragnarok left a broken and unbalanced world in its wake, caught in an endless cycle of perpetual destruction. To break the cycle, you must nurture the World Tree Yggdrasil  back to life and restore the Nine Realms to their former glory. Your clan of Vikings has somehow survived the cataclysm, stranded on a piece of the World Tree.

You take on the role of Sunna, a brave Viking woman who has to lead this group in expeditions where they will build settlements, explore the remnants of Midgard and gather resources to save the Nine Realms from total oblivion.

Roots of Yggdrasil presents a very rare blend of genres, introducing a strong narrative inspired by the official writings of Norse mythology, the Poetic Edda and the Prose Edda, and exploring a never before seen aspect of the story: what the world becomes years after Ragnarok has passed.

The game will also showcase roguelike elements. You must always build on a new set of procedurally generated islands while trying to escape the dark void, Ginnungagap. Each run brings perks and abilities that will carry on even after failure, as in any good roguelike.

As of February 1st, this project has raised $522,000 of their $30,000 goal. This project has 16 days left to raise as much as it can. For a pledge of $19, you will get one digital copy of the game.  For a pledge of $30, you will get one digital game copy and soundtrack.  To learn more and to pledge money, go to:
