Introducing The Mid.

If you’ve been ignored or stereotyped by the national media because you don’t live inside their media bubble, please consider supporting “The Mid.”

The Mid is a broadcast television, streaming, and social media start-up targeting 56 million households. Our purpose:

  • Give voice to Americans of different views and beliefs on all sides of the political spectrum
  • Spark insightful and productive conversations about real issues – without screaming or shouting
  • Connect with Americans outside the nation’s largest cities

As broadcast journalists with decades of experience, it’s become clear why so many of us don’t trust the media. It’s because all the major networks live in one of two bubbles, New York or DC, oblivious to the rest of of country.

As we race toward the 2024 presidential election, our small-but-mighty team just launched “The Mid” on Roku to give voice to millions of Americans in small and midsize markets overlooked (and overly simplified) by national media.

The most exciting part of “The Mid” is that we’ll hire the best journalists with an employee-owned business model.

This specific Kickstarter campaign will allow us to:

  • Produce the first month of content (20 videos)
  • Vet and contract social media journalists across the country
  • Launch all the rest of our streaming and social channels
  • Broadcast a 30-minute pilot episode in three Midwest TV markets

Here’s what also makes The Mid unique:

  • We are based in Omaha, smack-dab in the middle of the country, away from the network news bubbles of New York and DC.
  • Our journalist-owned business model means our journalists need not answer to a corporation, a billionaire owner, or Wall Street.
  • We’ll use smartphone technology and a cloud-based newsroom to connect freelance reporters nationwide. Working 100% remote also provides tremendous cost savings.
  • Most important, our unique content – such as “Porch Politics

As of August 7th, this project has raised $11,600 of their $18,000 goal. This project has 7 days left to raise the $18,000 or it will not be funded. For a pledge of $25, you will get to submit a short video.  For a pledge of $100, you’ll get to participate in the porch politics segment.  To learn more and to pledge money, go to: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/sethfeldman/the-mid?
