Good News Fridays: Help The White Plains High School Robotics Team

Geek Alabama Good News Fridays

This week on Good News Fridays, I am going to talk about a robotics team in Calhoun County that needs your help!  You see, the robotics team has won many awards (design, judges, excellence awards) including the VEX Excellence award.  And they have won a trip to Council Bluffs, Iowa to compete in one more competition.  This competition will be a national robotics tournament and White Plains HS will be one of 200 teams in the competition.  This team will also be the only team representing Alabama in the tournament.

Now, the high school needs your help!  As you can imagine, traveling to Iowa will cost a lot of money.  They have traveled to events like the Alabama State Championship Tournament, and going to the U.S. Open Robotics Championship on April 7-9.  The team already had to pay $395 to get into the tournament.  And now they need money to travel up there, stay in a hotel, and have meals.

They have worked their hardest to get to where they are, and dedicated all of their free time into creating their robot. Because of their hard work and dedication, they are wanting to travel to Iowa for this robotics competition!  Their team is made of seniors, and they won’t have this opportunity again.  So, the team is running a GoFundMe campaign to help fund the trip.  As of March 13th, they have only raised about $35.

The team’s goal is to raise up to $4,000, and they need your help!  To help them out on their GoFundMe campaign, go to: http://www.gofundme.com/oatlw0

And watch this report about them on TV 24.
