Halloween Events In Anniston/Oxford 2013

Thursday night is Halloween night! And many people will be going out to enjoy the night. First off, if you follow the weather reports, you know that a storm system is coming into the southeast Thursday night. Here’s some good news for NE Alabama / NW Georgia. The heavy rain and storms will not arrive until after 10 pm. No one should be trick-or-treating that late. So you will be able to get all Halloween and trick-or treat events in!

Now, an annual event in Anniston on Halloween night is trick-or-treating in Glenwood Terrace. Each year, the entire street is closed off to traffic and many homes participate by decorating and handing out candy. Many people dress in costume and walk on the streets. And each year, horseman Craig Waldron plays the role of the headless horseman. Here’s video from me from the Halloween event in 2012.

This year, as long as the streets are dry and not raining, the headless horseman will appear in Glenwood Terrace from 4:30-6:00 pm. Halloween at Glenwood Terrace will start at around 4:30 pm and will run to around 9 pm. Glenwood Terrace is easily accessible off of Highland Ave. in East Anniston. You can park on any street around Glenwood Terrace but no vehicles will be allowed on Glenwood Terrace during trick-or-treating. In Downtown Oxford, Trick Or Treat On Main Street will take place from 5-9 pm. This event is free and will feature a kids costume contest, bounce house, hay ride, sack races, face painting, games, Calhoun County Sheriff tank vehicle, and of course trick-or-treating! A zombie walk will begin at around 6 pm as people dressed as zombies will terrorize people in Downtown Oxford. Also, an electronic music event will take place at Blender from 8-11 pm and all ages are invited. And don’t forget about The Terrortorium, they will be open on Halloween night!
