From the world of Natalie Andrewson’s narrative Risograph prints comes a longer, more robust collection of enchanting characters and woodland worlds titled ‘A Pocketbook of Woodfolk and Fairies.’

This 140+ page offset printed book is a collection of creatures and stories Natalie has already introduced in her prints and explores the deeper world of Woodfolk and other fae-folk. The book itself will capture the spirit of her prints and sketchbook, combined with the sweet, yet haunting stories of her zines. There will be short written stories introducing the lore of the world, accompanied by golden age inspired narrative illustrations, small comics following the demon Pocket, and lots and lots of doodles and drawings.

This book generally follows as young demon named Pocket who shares stories of the creatures around them, while learning a few things about life and the joys of the forest themself. Encountering these forest creatures through Pocket’s introductions, we learn about the lore of the mountains and the magical daily activities of its inhabitants. There are dark stories, inspired by Appalachian folklore, and light, sweet stories inspired by fairytales from around the world. Six of the folklore stories have already been written and illustrated (an example of one below) and will be incorporated throughout the book.

Natalie draws strange but sweet characters who love to interact with the viewer that are inspired by the demons and angels she believed helped or hindered her in her youth, and the bugs and critters that she keeps an eye out for while wandering in nature. This book is a love letter to being inspired by nature, to the imagination that grows forever, and to the craft of drawing and doodling.

As of October 29th, this project has raised $20,000 of their $14,300 goal. This project has 23 days left to raise as much as it can. For a pledge of $45, you will get one physical book.
