We’re not in Kansas anymore.
Many of us are familiar with Oz, especially the MGM film adaptation following Dorothy and her little dog Toto. However, this graphic novel aims to do two things that will make it a singularly unique experience.
Firstly, this will be adapting L. Frank Baum’s original Wonderful Wizard of Oz book and world, a much stranger, a bit darker, and a bit more progressive place than Hollywood wanted to adapt in 1939. I will be doing my own takes on things and making changes where I see fit, but don’t expect iconography just from the movies like green witches or ruby slippers.
Secondly, this will be no children’s story, nor will it be a cynical view of the original. While remaining fun, bright, and colorful, I wanted to do a take on this classic story that aims for an older readership that maintains that sense of adventure. An older Dorothy going through a lot of emotions about this strange land and the terrible things that are asked of her along the way. A little spicy and a little violent, but nothing extreme in either direction.
Also, Toto is a creature of secrets and lies.

As of July 15th, this project has raised $16,000 of their $10,000 goal. This project has 1 days left to raise as much as it can. For a pledge of $20, you will get one PDF graphic novel.
