I am so incredibly sorry to be writing these words, and if this is the first time you are hearing this, my heart breaks that this is how you are finding out. On Saturday, June 6th, around 6:00 p.m., our sweet, happy senior girl Memphis Belle the Husky, passed away. I know this comes as a massive shock to everyone, especially since I just uploaded a video that very morning sharing the news of her liver cancer and our hopes for her upcoming surgery on July 1st. We had so many plans, but the universe had other ideas. This video is incredibly hard to make, and it is going to be a little scattered, but because you guys are family and have been here from the day we brought her home until the day she left us, I wanted to sit down and share the honest story of what happened.
Saturday started out as a completely beautiful, normal day. We had just come back from an amazing four-day camping trip with the dogs, where Memphis was prancing in Lake Superior and hiking to the bottom of Tahquamenon Falls. That morning, I took her to the local Flower Festival so she could get some special one-on-one time, get loved on by people, and take some photos. She was so incredibly happy. Later in the day, she ate her lunch with no issues, but by the late afternoon, things changed rapidly. She became restless, uncomfortable, and unable to settle down. When I brought her outside, I knew something was deeply wrong. Her abdomen was rock hard, and when I checked her gums, they were already turning pale.
We rushed her to the urgent care clinic immediately. The amazing veterinary team performed an ultrasound and discovered she was rapidly filling with fluid, and it was determined she would not survive the four-hour drive to Michigan State University for emergency surgery. To save her from suffering, we had to make the most devastating but peaceful decision to help her cross the Rainbow Bridge. She went very calmly and peacefully, surrounded by love. It is the end of an era for our channel, and while Kira is feeling mopey and Eleanor is staying extra close, we are trying to keep them distracted and moving forward. Thank you all so much for loving our Memphis Belle just as much as we did.
