Welcome to the Crowdsourcing Mornings segment!  Every weekday morning, Geek Alabama talks about and features one crowdsourcing project from crowdsourcing sites such as, Indiegogo, and others.  The hope with Crowdsourcing Mornings is to feature and help a project be successful and reach its fundraising goal.  Please enjoy today’s featured project!

Please read our crowdsourcing guidelines at:  https://geekalabama.com/media-kit-pr/geek-alabama-crowdsourcing-guidelines

Los Angeles is losing independent cultural spaces, and when they disappear, so does the creative energy that defines our neighborhoods.

Located in the heart of Atwater Village, G-Son Studios served as the Beastie Boys recording studio and rehearsal space. In 1990, the musicians found this no-name studio that would give them the flexibility to try any crazy idea with the room to fail – without a running meter, pressure, or the cost of a big LA studio.

The main room itself is 1,700 square feet and has a capacity of 150 people. The room can be used as a rehearsal space, performance space, production set, event rental, and for awesome photo shoots. Our greenroom can be used as an office or waiting area for clients.

Our project will support the reopening and expanding of G-Son Studios, while preserving its legacy by giving artists and neighbors a place to gather, create, and belong.

Hitting the $25,000 initial goal is ONLY the beginning for G-Son studios; as the more money we can raise, the more we can improve the space for the local community…

As of June 26th, this project has raised $16,000 of their $25,000 goal. This project has 6 days left to raise the $25,000 or it will not be funded. For a pledge of $35, you will get one t-shirt. For a pledge of $50, you will get your name on a plaque. To learn more and to pledge money, go to: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/g-son/restore-the-beastie-boys-legendary-g-son-studios?
