Help us finish the very first episode of Galactic Defense Force! This pilot is our first step to creating a brand new animated series, one that will be pitched to larger studios and distributors after launch.
We hope to build a brighter future for animation, one where independent artists can land industry jobs and make a living doing what they love.
Galactic Defense Force is a show that fully embraces the absurdity of classic sci-fi media. Retro blasters, colorful supervillains, robot sidekicks, and more! There is no sarcasm towards the fantastical, no gritty dialogue or ironic comments. The story takes place in a world of aliens and magic, where all our colorful characters must learn to coexist peacefully.
However, not everyone in the galaxy wants peace. There’s a new supervillain at large, and it’s up to our heroes to stop him!
The series will cater to both teens and adults, ages 13-30, with compelling characters and a unique visual style. Perfect comfort food for animation fans that want comedy, heart, and serialized stories in a colorful, space-adventure package! The show will also delve into psychological horror through stories of personhood and growth, asking viewers what really makes us alive and how we should be living.
The central theme of GDF revolves around the question of what makes someone “real” or valuable. Through robots with feelings and fairies with guns, the series explores a team of characters who all struggle against predetermined roles.
As of June 10th, this project has raised $5,800 of their $25,000 goal. This project has 15 days left to raise the $25,000 or it will not be funded.
