Welcome to the Trainscapes segment! Each week here on Geek Alabama, Trainscapes will feature train content including videos of trains and behind the scenes action of trains and locomotives. Some people have an interest in seeing trains, and we here at Geek Alabama aim to please the train lovers!
Join us on a once-in-a-lifetime journey celebrating the one-year anniversary of CPKC, the historic union of Canadian Pacific (CP) and Kansas City Southern (KCS), with the first-ever cross-continent steam tour. Beginning in April 2024, the legendary 2816 “The Empress” traveled across North America, bridging generations and connecting communities from Canada, through the United States, to Mexico. Pulse of the Continent is the short film that captures the excitement, nostalgia, and pride as the 2816 steam tour brought the story of our uniquely North American railway’s rich history and dynamic future to life. Experience the magic alongside communities, rail fans and railroaders from across our expansive network.
Restoring and operating the 2816 was more than a labor of love—it became a living link to our shared past and a testament to the passion that fuels railroading. For the dedicated team behind this project, reaching into the heart of this locomotive was like touching history itself, creating new memories while honouring old traditions.
