There are already hundreds of books out there on creativity. But there are none quite like Be a Fool. What other book explores Beard Ramps, Infinity Cycles, High Up Huts, Joy Machines, The Wisdom of the Three Beans, and Folk Stunts?
We wrote this book for artists who need a playful jolt of inspiration and for those who want to reconnect with their childlike wonder and creativity. Be a Fool is packed with epic adventures, misguided experiments, full-colour photographs, eccentric illustrations, mystical philosophy and bold challenges.
Twenty-five years ago, we started a community arts collective in our small town. Through that experience we learned that playful, collaborative, artistic expression could change lives. It changed ours.
Since then we have gone on a creative adventure that we could have never imagined.
With this book we are going back to our roots. Be a Fool is a collaborative project intended to change lives. We need your help to get its joyful, vital message out into the world. Today, there is a great need to tap into our creative potential to transform ourselves and our communities.We have a great start on this book so far. We printed a few dozen copies of the first draft on our own and now we’re adding 40 more bold and colourful pages, expanding on our story and the lessons we learned along the way, and we’re teaming up with Nine Ten so the book will be available around the world.
Printing thousands of copies of a full-colour book is expensive, especially since Nine Ten is committed to printing all their books in Canada on 100% recycled paper. Your support will make the initial print run possible, and in addition to joining a fabulous community of creative people to do it, you’ll be the first to get the book in your hands once it arrives from the printer. We’re also offering tons of amazing rewards for you: unreleased Zenga Bros videos, zines, and stickers.
Along with Be a Fool, we’ve completed a companion feature film, available to campaign supporters.
