Honolulu’s Skyline light metro rail line has always been good (in my opinion), but now it’s getting better.

In this video, we ride the Skyline: Hawaii’s state-of-the-art, fully driverless metro line, and ask: why, in a city with crushing traffic and latent transit demand, do so few people use it?

But change is coming. On October 16, 2025, the rail line will extend 5+ miles eastward, linking Pearl Harbor, the airport, and Kalihi Transit Center, and finally bringing the Skyline closer to downtown Honolulu.
