Welcome to the Crowdsourcing Mornings segment! Every weekday morning, Geek Alabama talks about and features one crowdsourcing project from crowdsourcing sites such as, Indiegogo, and others. The hope with Crowdsourcing Mornings is to feature and help a project be successful and reach its fundraising goal. Please enjoy today’s featured project!

What happens After The End? We have no idea. The one thing we know for sure? There will still be Happily Ever Afters.
Like many other beautiful stories, this one started with empanadas.
It was early spring 2024. The days began to lengthen, flowers were in bloom, and we (Ali and Adriana, aka AH²) met with a handful of author friends at a delicious lunch spot in NYC. Adriana had recently completed a Kickstarter project that had produced some truly stunning editions of her Toy Runners series. Ali felt nostalgic and was missing some of the most collaborative aspects of being in fandom. We were both buzzing with new story ideas, and wanted to write something set in a post-apocalyptic world. A few (many) margaritas in, the convergence of all our interests, dreams, and desires became apparent.
In the following weeks, we made a few (many) phone calls and wrote a few (many) emails, with the aim of getting some of our favorite writers, artists, designers, editors, and all sorts of bookish creatives to collaborate with us. Thankfully, many decided to take a chance on us and jump on board, and in the summer of 2024, After the End was officially born.
After the End is a collection of dystopian novellas authored by AH² and some of our most beloved storytellers—the first of what we hope will be many collaborative projects. As long-term, rabid romance readers, we feel privileged to work with authors and artists who are masterful in their craft, innovative in their storytelling, and constantly bringing fresh, unique ideas to the genre.
When it came time to decide how to put this project out into the world, we were inspired by some pioneers within the romance space (we’re looking at Katee Robert & Jenny Nordbak’s Bonkers Romance) and decided the best way would be to run a Kickstarter campaign. In our opinion, this is the most effective way to allow the authors and organizers total control over our stories—and over the packaging of those stories. After the End is a dream for us, and we hope for everyone else involved in it: a project entirely powered by readers and creatives.
What’s in the After the End collection?
The collection will consist of eight novellas (approx. 35k-55k words each) in four volumes. All novellas are set at different times following the end of the world as we know it, with storylines that include…
- Alpha warriors and tenacious omegas joining forces against the elites
- Triads crossing a Mad Max landscape to freedom
- Wolf shifters falling for robots
- Afro-futurist baddies and their cyborg princes
- Horned aliens obsessed with their human
- Bunker couples tasked with breeding for the future of their community
- Women gifted to scavengers
- Princes with amnesia, and the women they meet in the middle of the ocean
Come into the worlds of After the End. They may seem hopeless, but love always wins.
As of September 12th, this project has raised $941,000 of their $10,000 goal. This project has 11 days left to raise as much as it can. For a pledge of $40, you will get eBooks.
